The Hereditary Society of Teachers

Founded in September 2010, the Hereditary Society of Teachers had its first Board meeting in Washington, DC on the 13th of April 2011, at the Army and Navy Club.

The first membership meeting was April 15, 2012. We will meet again for a School Supper each year in the DC area.

The founding officers of the Society were Jane Routt Power, President General; Ellan Wheeler Thorson, Vice President General; Sandra Staley, Secretary General; Susan Young Smith, Treasurer General; Elizabeth White May, Registrar General; and Michael P. Schenk, Marshall General.

Founding members were: Alexander Nicholas Bannerman, Eleanor Smith Garrett, Josefa Lee Hammond, Barry Christopher Howard, Betsy Phillips Jones, and John Hallberg Jones.
